Description [EN]
The Deutsche Kinemathek is one of Europe´s leading institutions dedicated to audiovisual heritage. From 2025, the Kinemathek will move to the E-Werk in Berlin-Mitte, while planning for a new film house continues. In these transitional quarters, the program will continue - with proven formats and new ideas - and will continue to offer exciting insights into film and television culture.
The Kinemathek promotes the exploration of moving images with a diverse educational and event program. Its archives and specialist library are central points of contact for research and science and remain accessible. Film distribution, with around 20,000 titles, continues to be an important part of the Kinemathek, as do the film series and festivals.
Until October 31, 2024, the Kinemathek presented a permanent exhibition on German film and television history in its Museum für Film und Fernsehen, supplemented by changing special exhibitions. In the second half of 2025, it will take up its exhibition operations in the E-Werk.
