The Gruuthuse Museum in Bruges is a historical museum located in a magnificent mansion from the 15th century. The building was originally the residence of the wealthy Van der Gruuthuse family, who amassed their fortune through the trade of ´Gruut´ – a mixture of herbs used in brewing beer. The museum houses an impressive collection of artworks, furniture, tapestries, and historical artifacts that illustrate the life and culture of medieval Bruges. After extensive renovations, the museum reopened in 2019 and now offers modern exhibitions and interactive experiences that bring the city´s history and heritage to life.
