LA MÉCA, short for Maison de l´Économie Créative et de la Culture en Aquitaine, is a cultural center in Bordeaux, France. It was inaugurated in June 2019 and serves as a dynamic space for creative and cultural activities. The building, designed by architects Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and FREAKS freearchitects, is an architectural masterpiece with a distinctive, modern structure. LA MÉCA houses various cultural institutions, including the FRAC (Fonds régional d´art contemporain) Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the OARA (Office Artistique de la Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine), and the ECLA (Écrit Cinéma Livre Audiovisuel). These institutions promote contemporary art, performing arts, and audiovisual media. LA MÉCA provides artists and creatives with a space for exchange, collaboration, and presentation of their works, thus contributing to the cultural dynamism of the region.
