A sunken world opens up under the glass roof next to the village church: Zermatlantis. Visitors are immersed in the old Zermatt of the 19th century and experience the golden age of alpinism, which included the first ascent of the Matterhorn.
The display charts the development of Zermatt from a mountain farming village to a world-renowned Alpine mountain destination. This is staged with original houses, re-enactments of life at the time, historical facts and objects, information boards, film screenings and changing exhibitions.
