The private "MMKM Museum of Modern Art Mülheim" in the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr (Straße 3) was established as part of the Ruhr.2010 European Capital of Culture initiative. It began its development in the historic VILLA-ARTIS, located near the city-center park "Ruhranlage," and continues to expand its collection and activities.
At the same time, the Mülheim Art Association and Art Promotion Association Rhein-Ruhr (KKRR) was founded, offering free membership. Its mission is to cultivate a vibrant art scene in the Ruhr Valley city of Mülheim, bringing together artists and art enthusiasts of all ages and professions.

The young private art museum MMKM Museum of Modern Art Mülheim houses the "PERMANENT COLLECTION" - "RUHR PRIZE WINNERS´ COLLECTION" alongside numerous rotating exhibitions throughout the art year.
