The Vancouver Aquarium, officially known as the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre, is a public aquarium located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It opened on June 15, 1956, and is the largest aquarium in Canada. The aquarium is situated in Stanley Park and is one of the city´s main attractions. It is renowned for its extensive educational programs, research facilities, and marine conservation efforts. The Vancouver Aquarium was the first in the world to hold killer whales in captivity but has since changed its policy and now focuses on the rescue and rehabilitation of marine animals. The aquarium houses over 50,000 animals from more than 700 species and offers a variety of exhibits and interactive experiences for visitors of all ages.
